Brazil's CVRD , the world's leading producer and exporter of iron ore, said on Monday it secured a groundbreaking 19 percent price increase for 2006 in negotiations with Germany's biggest steelmaker, ThyssenKrupp A.G.

Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD), the world’s largest iron ore producer, concluded the iron ore price negotiations for 2006 with the Japanese steel mills. As an outcome of these negotiations, iron ore prices for Caraj醩 (SFCJ) and Southern System (SSF) fines increased by 19.0% relatively to 2005. Blast furnace pellets, both from Tubar鉶 and S鉶 Lu韘, will be reduced by 3.0%
